Meet the dedicated community leaders committed to moving Closter forward through transparent government, responsible budgeting, and thoughtful leadership. Together, Dolores Witko, Linda Albelli, and Steven Spoto bring decades of experience, community service, and a shared vision for Closter's future.
Dolores Witko
Dolores Witko has proudly called Closter home for more than 42 years. As a mother of two daughters and grandmother to one grandson, she has dedicated her life to serving the community she loves through public service, education, healthcare, and volunteerism.
Dolores served on the Closter Borough Council from 2018 to 2023, where she worked to represent residents with integrity, transparency, and a commitment to responsible leadership. Prior to serving on the Council, she spent 10 years on the Closter Board of Education, helping shape policies that supported students, families, and educators.
A lifelong community volunteer, Dolores served as Co-President of the Closter PTO for three years and has been actively involved in numerous community organizations, including the Girl Scouts, serving as a Class Mother, and volunteering as a CCD teacher. Her dedication to Closter has always been centered on strengthening families and building a connected community.
Professionally, Dolores brings extensive leadership and healthcare experience. She served for eight years on the Executive Board of AFSCME District 1199J and is a Certified Application Counselor for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Get Covered New Jersey, helping individuals and families access affordable healthcare. Her diverse career in the healthcare industry has provided her with valuable experience advocating for others, solving complex problems, and delivering results.
Dolores is committed to providing experienced, transparent, and community-focused leadership while working to move Closter forward for every resident.
For Mayor
Linda Albelli
Linda Albelli is a lifelong Closter resident whose decades of public service and community involvement reflect her unwavering commitment to the borough she proudly calls home. As a wife, mother of two daughters, and grandmother of two, Linda understands the importance of preserving Closter's strong sense of community for future generations.
Linda previously served on the Closter Borough Council from 2001 to 2006, where she worked to address the needs of residents and strengthen local government through thoughtful, collaborative leadership.
Her dedication to the community extends far beyond elected office. Linda currently serves as President and Coordinator of the Closter Senior Citizens Club and is Co-Chair of the Closter 9/11 Memorial Committee, helping honor those we lost while bringing residents together through remembrance and service.
Throughout the years, Linda has also served as President and Treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knickerbocker Hook & Ladder Company, demonstrating her longstanding commitment to supporting Closter's first responders and community organizations.
In recognition of her many years of volunteerism and civic leadership, Linda was honored with the Fifth District Hometown Hero Award in 2024.
Professionally, Linda enjoyed a distinguished career as an Editorial Coordinator with Pearson Higher Education for more than 40 years. She also proudly co-owned Angelina's Gifts & Goodies, a beloved local business that allowed her to connect with residents and contribute to Closter's vibrant downtown.
Linda is committed to bringing experienced leadership, community-focused decision-making, and a lifetime of dedication to serving the residents of Closter.

For CouncilSteven Spoto
Steven Spoto is a dedicated husband, father of three, and proud Closter resident who is deeply invested in the future of our community. With children attending both Hillside Elementary School and Tenakill Middle School, Steven understands firsthand the importance of maintaining the exceptional quality of life that makes Closter a wonderful place to call home.
Professionally, Steven brings experience in public service and communications, along with a strong understanding of local government and the importance of transparent, effective leadership. He is committed to listening to residents, working collaboratively, and delivering practical solutions that strengthen our community.
Outside of his professional career, Steven is an active volunteer in local youth sports and community programs, believing that strong communities are built through service and involvement.
Steven is proud to be endorsed by the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) and is honored to run alongside Dolores Witko for Mayor and Linda Albelli for Borough Council.
Steven is committed to moving Closter forward through responsible leadership, community engagement, and results that benefit every resident.
